Tales of the Midnight Sun Brewery had drifted down the coast; shrouded whispers of
the glory of the brews concocted on the hollowed ground of the last frontier. We sought
them out, but save for once a year at the Toronado Barleywine Festival-which it must be
noted we failed to arrive early enough to encounter such before mentioned beers-their
brews continued to allude us; the fabled unicorn beer.
One afternoon, not much different than any other, a lone brewer named Ben wandered
into the City Beer Store during his San Francisco Beer Week tour. He was a thirsty
traveler from the land of wonder, and a fine brewer playing for the Midnight Sun team.
On that fortunate day the unicorn beer ceased to be a mythical beer beyond our grasp, the
unicorn beer had become a reality.
This past July we had the opportunity to travel to the land of wooly beasts and enchanting
landscapes, and along with the wonderful “brew crew” of Midnight Sun we crafted a
unicorn beer of our own.
